about...'yamaneko'
I'm an 18 year old high school student, currently living in NC, USA. My real name
is 'Jeannette Kerr' but online, I go by 'Akurei', 'yamaneko', 'Serranovsky', and '41102'.
I spend the majority of my time drawing and conceptualising (usually via drawing
or writing) many aspects of the world I've created in my head. I've drawn for
as long as I can remember, and there's really no way to separate my art from who
I am, so art plays a pretty integral part in my life. I'm also big into music,
of no particular genre, but including ebm (techno, industrial), rock, indie, folk,
neo-classical, and all sorts of stuff thst doesn't fit into any particular
category. I also enjoy hiking/exploring rural and ruined urban regions, and am an avid animal lover
(as evidenced by my six cats, two birds, dog, and horse). I hope to someday
become a professional artist, in the 3D animation or conceptual design fields for
either (both?) the gaming and video industries.
about...'41102' the site
I've made sites for myself on and off for the past six years, and decided that
I'd better finally make (and finish) one that I could use for uploading my
drawings, as well as host resources for art, and offer
links to other artists. Hopefully this site will fulfill that. It was made
with a jumble of HTML, CSS, PHP, Notepad, Adobe GoLive, and lots of help from ShockWire.
about...the artwork
Artwork is my life. It's how I carry on my mental dialogues, develop characters, concepts,
and stories, and a way for me to share and communicate with others and friends. Nearly
all of my drawings, even (especially?) the sketches, have a story behind them, and allow me
to express myself and my emotions. I like drawing, because it allows me to bring
my ideas and characters to life, if not for others, at least for myself. Colour, symbols/markings,
and certain species/forms are integral in my system of symbolism which I incorporate into
my work. I enjoy sharing my ideas with others, thus the site and various accounts I post to.
I feel that artists sharing and bouncing ideas off each other is an important way for
artists to grow and develop their styles and ideas, and working with creative minds is
a wonderful way to nurture one's artwork.
My favourite media include Prismacolor and Tria markers, openCanvas (beta version), Painter 6,
Alias Sketchbook Pro, Micron pens, coloured ink, and mechanical pencils + smudges.
